Dr. Jan Brozek MD, PhD, is a general internist specializing in allergy and immunology. Initially trained in Poland, he joined McMaster University in 2012 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine, and Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact, McMaster University. His main scholarly interest is in the methodology of systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines.
In these areas, Dr. Brozek has achieved an international reputation, acting as methodologist with a number of leading organizations producing guidelines and as a leading member of the GRADE working group. Dr. Brozek has led a series of papers introducing GRADE to the allergy and immunology community, and played a major role in helping the American Thoracic Society to produce trustworthy guidelines. He has made special contributions to guidelines of diagnostic tests and is currently leading the GRADE working group in developing an approach to rating the certainty of evidence emerging from decision models. In the last 2 years, Thomson Reuters has acknowledged Dr. Brozek as one of the most cited scientists worldwide.
